Our 2025 special exhibition tells the story of Sport and Physical Culture at Knockaloe, as well as focussing on the story of one Knockaloe internee who went on to create a method of excercise practised by millions today.... Joseph Pilates.
Linking to our exhibition within the Knockaloe Visitor Centre, we are delighted to invite you to join a guided walk through the site of Camp itself by Knockaloe Charity Trustee, Alison Jones, who will be providing a specially tailored tour exploring both the development of physical excercise and sport within the five years of WW1 Internment as well as telling the story of Joseph Pilates experiences during this time resulting in its legacy today.
Following complimentary coffee/tea whilst you register (for pre-booked and pre-paid confirmed attendees only), the tour starts with an introduction in the model room where our 2025 special exhibition is on display, before commencing the guided walk up the drive running through the centre of the site of Knockaloe Camp where Alison Jones will develop the story of Sport and Physical Culture at Knockaloe, and its impact on the internment of internees such as Joseph Pilates.
